Time to Get Into the Pink
The Kings Oak Hospital took part in a national drive to promote awareness of breast cancer.
October was the month for Breast Cancer Awareness. As well as displaying information in the hospital, along with thousands of people, staff will be pinning on their pink ribbons to show they have donated money to support the cause.
The hospital's Clinical Nurse Specialist in breast care, Jayne Abel, said: "It is important that women are aware of breast cancer and as part of the promotion throughout October; we would like to remind them to follow the Breast Cancer Awareness 5-Point Code:
- Know what is normal for you
- Know what changes to look and feel for
- Look and feel
- Report any changes to your GP without delay
- Attend for routine breast screenings if you are aged 50 or over
The hospital has its own dedicated Breast Care Clinic and is an approved BUPA Breast Care Unit.
Patients attending the clinic can be referred by their GP for advice on any breast problems. The clinics run every Tuesday and Friday. If you would like to book a screening mammogram please telephone 020 8370 9503.
