The Breast Centre

Providing the highest quality diagnostic and treatment service to all women

At The Kings Oak Hospital and The Garden Hospital, patients with breast complaints can be seen in a 'one-stop clinic' and assessed by one of our consultant specialist breast surgeons within our comfortable surroundings. Tests such as mammography and biopsy can be performed on the same day and a diagnosis can be established in a single visit.

A specialist nurse is also present at The Kings Oak Hospital to give our patients further support and information if desired.

The specialist diagnosis tests and procedures are:
  • Mammography
  • Ultrasound
  • Fine needle aspiration cytology
  • Core biopsy
  • Breast surgery
  • Reconstructive/cosmetic surgery

If surgery is required, The Breast Centre can usually arrange this within one to two weeks, offering a range of dates at your convenience. It is feasible to carry out many breast operations as day cases. If you require admission overnight, you will be looked after by our dedicated breast ward nurses and seen daily by your surgeon post-operatively.

The Kings Oak Hospital Breast Centre's comprehensive service also offers an Oncology Clinic. This enables our consultant oncologists to plan specific individual treatments and discuss these with the patient, our breast care nurse and specialist oncology nurses. The holistic service is also supplemented by the Physiotherapy Department and the treatment of lymphoedema (arm swelling).

Support groups are available to patients who would benefit from meeting and talking to others with similar conditions.

Breast surgery, oncology, mammography, breast reconstruction/cosmetic surgery and treatments.
If you would like to see a consultant, you must obtain a referral from your GP. For more information please call:
